UNLESS you get the private land owners permission! They are not game and are feral so the hunting regs would not cover them, the land owner could give any permissions necessary.

Any one chime in. What is the best size cabbage palm for "swamp cabbage"? Also what is the easiest way to cut, and clean them up for this. I had the stuff once cooked up with some bacon, and some onions it was delicious.

One about 6-8' tall is the best. Cut all the fronds off, cut it off about 2 1/2' down and take the "log" to the house. Open a 12 pack and start "booting" it out. A good sharp knife and they will come off in layers till you get down to the cabbage layer. You really need to see it done once to get the jest of it. I usually just drink and let someone else do it
