it sucks with half the bridge closed. never really did get a staight answer why it is closed. Was told because it is 50 years old, the one that is open is supposed to be 40yrs old. So does that mean only 10 years left? Also heard that it needed to be fixed, like the gandy over here by my house. no money.
That's it, but they are not even giving the span that is left 10 years. But is still safe for boats to go under.
I think it's all bull. Homeland security probably wanted that side of skyway pier shut down.
What kind of rigs do you guys use for sharks. from hook to reel .I plan on going out and have an idea of how i want to rig and the tackle i wanna use but would like to hear from someone whos been doin it.
I have a tld 25 full of 30 lb mono to a bimini to 20 yds of 80 lb mono to 5 ' of wire. this is on a 6 ' stand up tuna rod . i think this will be good . i like the fight of a 4-6 ' shark from the pier. its a hell of a fight but still managable.
I used to fish sharks on the skyway years ago before they made it a pay to fish pier. Used to use 4/0 penn reels loaded with 50 lb line. Freelining bait didn't work for me because the current rips so hard. Used to use ladyfish and jacks for bait with enough lead to keep it on bottom. Wire leader with double hook rig for the bigger baits.
