went out today with some friends and fish some rock piles near the skyway and fish the shipping channel. caught a lot of short grouper with whitebait and small pins. out in the shipping channel we got in to some really good size macks. two that went 30 inches. i boated 3 sharks and got freighttrained a couple times with large pins, grunts and bluerunners. one of the guys was settin the hook and not quite sure how it happened but he ended up gettin the rod yanked out of his hand and that one is on the bottom somewhere. i hooked in to about a 3 foot shark with one of the snapper rigs and the rod didn't fare too well and now i have a couple guides to replace. all in all we lost a rig, broke 2 rigs, went thru alot of hooks, pins, grunts, shrimp and had a great day on the water. it was nice out, not choppy at all. tide wasn't moving at all, but it was good to get out. no pics today, maybe next time out.

Sounds like my kind of fishin.......do you eat those small sharks? I used to catch small blackfin sharks in the passes and if you wanted to eat one you needed to gut it and rinse it out in the salt water right then and there and pack it on ice and they were delicious fried or grilled. If you waited to get home to clean it they tasted like piss...

they say that if you dont clean them fast enough, they do taste like piss unless you soak in it milk for 24 hrs. the only thing i soak in milk is cereal. they kept the shark so ill ask how it was

They urinate thru their flesh and skin. Hence the reason they have to be bled out

Sounds like you got ahold of a couple rare, endangered jewfish
