The Tikka shotguns are , I believe Italian made or maybe made in Finland with the Tikka rifles. They are pretty high end guns. Don't think you would be calling a Tikka shotgun junk
You know what.. i must be wrong.. let me go back and check..
actually it was a name that sounded like that.. mu mistake. i edited my post.
the 270 wsm is like a reg 270 on steroids,it's a short action length, but very thick case diam that will go 2-300 fps faster. recoil I'd say about the same as a 30-06, maybe a little less but is a fast feeling recoil not a push, the bbl heats up quickly after app 3 shots, so give it plenty of time to cool down at the range. magazine will probly only hold 3 rounds, and very expensive and not easy to find everywhere. reloading for this round for me with the a-bolt has been real finicky about what it likes, powders, length, sizing, bullets etc. but is capable of amazing 1/4"moa at 100 yds when you find the correct load. that combo tikka and 270 wsm from a treestand should be a real georgia peach, but so would a reg 270 at 300yds, but if going out west for elk I'd def give the 270 wsm the edge. all of the wsm's 270,7mm,300 all have good ballistics, I picked the 270 for least recoil.
about composite stocks. imo most of them suck, they are used because they are light wt and cheap to mfg. yes they are weatherproof but they kick like mules, and have a hollow tinny sound when tapped or knocked against something. I much prefer a wood laminate stock. the extra wt absorbs alot more recoil, some can look real nice. and when the action/bbl is glass bedded, trigger/action smoothed/lightened , after market recoil pad( if needed ) and correct length of pull to fit you just right, you will have a much more comfortable to shoot and accurate rifle
The tikka is a fine rifle with a smooth action. Their accuracy is praised all over the internet. As to recoil, I'm 6'1" and 230 pounds and prefer 6 to 7 pound rifles. The .300 win mag in that platform will clobber you off the bench but not so bad in field shooting positions. All you would need for the game you mentioined is a .270 win or 7mm-08. In a light rifle for all around big game these calibers really shine.
