I have the Tikka T3 Lite in .270 WSM and love it. I put a Limbsaver recoil pad on it and it's a breeze to shoot. Accurate right out of the box and built well. Light too! Very easy to carry around all day out in the woods.

I really had my heart set on a Rem 700 but man I liked that rifle. Every review I've read about them has been positive. Think I've made up my mind. Thanks.

a personel prefference call. a 300 win mag, or 270 wsm at 6.5 lbs has gotta have a pretty thin bbl and at 24" can get whippy and not the best choice for benchrest accurcy, plus increased recoil and heats up fast. I shoot a 270wsm browning a-bolt with 23" bbl at times and would feel very comfortable using it with 150 gr partitions for elk or black bear. however if youre gonna be carrying it all day long running after dogs for deer/hog I'd go with a 308/7mm08 with the shortest bbl I could get in a 5 1/2 lb gun and be real particular about the loads you use for hunting, if shots are gonna be under 100 yds I'd use the heaviest bullet avail. a 308 with a 200gr nosler partition from an 18" bbl should smackdown anything in fla. as for tikka ive heard real good things about them silky smooth action and good triggers. somehow connected with sako I think. if youre set on the 300 mag and not going mt climbing for goats or trailing dogs I'd go with something with a bit heavier/thicker diam bbl, for better accuracy and less recoil and will cool down quicker between shots.

The Tikka shotguns are , I believe Italian made or maybe made in Finland with the Tikka rifles. They are pretty high end guns. Don't think you would be calling a Tikka shotgun junk
