I used to prefer the api strap ons ( baby grands, ( but back then you had to use a T-screw to hold it to the tree, and use a separate ladder to climb up, which was nice cuz you could remove the bottom 2 ladder sections only and leave the top ladder section and platform and nobody else could use it or steal it ( without alot of effort ), then the next day all you have to carry in is 2 ladder sections ( no biggie ) and you wouldn't have to trim any branches.I don't understand why you're not allowed to hang a stand with a T-screw, but youre allowed to cut all the branches off below your climber. don't seem to make much sense to me.
Can't understand why that happened. I've lost the bottom before but never had the top follow. As I move up the tree in any climber I make sure and seat the top and bottom against the tree before I move the next piece. Sounds like a good thing to get rid of it.
(knock on wood) ive never had any incidents of droppin half my climber outta the tree. I really take my time climbing up and down to make sure everythings set and minimize the risk of falling. Just like driving someplace, the key is to give yourself enough time so you arent in a rush :toast
I dropped the bottom of my Tree Lounge the first time, but not any of my other climbers. At least with the Tree Lounge, I could work my way down the tree slowly using my feet for leverage. A couple slips caught my attention, but I made it down to the bottom section w/o any serious issues, and then connected the straps the right way.
I just went and bought a titan. Been wanting to get another climber and decided to go ahead and pull the trigger. I also bought a replacement seat that I'm gonna put on my API. :rockon
