Years ago I sighted in a Mossy 500 12 ga 3" slugger from the bench for a friend of mine, it was not a pleasant experience. I would think a 20 gauge slug should shoot a little flatter and still hit pretty hard with much less punishment. I had a 20 ga 870 a long time ago, it was my favorite rabbit gun. It is the only gun I ever regretted selling.
I so bad want to zero in my buckshot with a turkey choke but cant find a place that lets you zero in buckshot.
Now what would you want to do that for ??????
cause i have a scope on it.. LOL.. im weird like that.. i just dont want to take that scope off casue i like the way it looks.. i might just take it off and wait to put it on a slug barrell.
What I am getting at (and I don't mean to derail this man's thread) is that a turkey choke, or a full choke for that matter, are not the best choices to shoot buckshot thru. Because of the tight constriction it deforms the pellets as they come thru the choke and causes them to fly erratically. I shoot buckshot thru a modified choke and I shoot #1 buck. I have never been able to get 00buck to pattern worth a darn. And that is shooting many different brands of buckshot thru several choke tubes and three different shotguns
i figured the closes i can get to a slug is a turkey choke.. tight group.
