I killed a yearling doe with a double-barrel .410 shotgun with slugs a long time ago. Was only about 30-35 yards but it did the job just fine. Still have the shotgun, great little squirrel and rabbit gun. I want to shoot a hog with it this year.

Nacho stated to not go over 24" barell. Can somone explain differences/pros and cons of a shorter barrell vs longer barell.

If one gun is the choice 12 ga with screw in chokes is the way to go. It is more versatile. I never had a need to go to 3.5" shells even when duck/goose hunting I use 3" for a better pattern. 24" barrel for hogs, upland birds, skeet, & dove. You can buy a 26" or 28" barrel for added length if you get into duck and geese.

The shorter barrels are easier to manuever in the woods with. When duck/goose hunting the added length helps with continuing your swing on the birds and longer sight plane aids in hitting higher flying targets.

I want to get this gun because it easily changes from 24" to 28" with a screw in barrel extender. I have a 20 ga TriStar G2 that I have put over 500 rounds through with no issues. They are Beretta knockoffs made in Turkey and are high quality with an affordable price.
