just make sure it comes with a usb wire not the old serial kind. Most laptops dont have serial so you are limited to connecting to a pc.

From my personal experience, i would not buy another Etrex. my screen went out, and so did two other people i know. I like garmin products, just not there cheap stuff. you get what you pay for. it will work for a while, or it may not. I use a garmin gps76csx, not sure if they are still made, brand new it was about 300, but it's been going for about 5 years now, tough as nails, connects quick, i put topo maps on it, and i can save all the tracks/overlay them on google earth, great for scouting. if you can afford it or save, get one of there high end models, like the oregon or such, try to stay away from the touch screen models, most of my touch screen phones and gadgets seem to die after a while.

I spent the money on a Garmin Oregon 450 and i'm very glad I did.. had several cheap ones but the things you can do now with the good ones is awsome. The birdseye feature along with the topo overlay and the wireless sharing makes these great little units

I am glad someone finally bought one. I have lots of questions.
How to you like the touch screen?
How long do the batteries last?

Have you added and I mean created your own aerial maps to add to the GPS?
Was it difficult, a pain, very time consuming?

I currently use a magellan triton and am finding I need more memory to add more maps.
