All,
I am taking some much needed vacation time this Thanksgiving with my Bro in Texas. We want to do some hunting, but he doesnt have any long guns other than one shotgun.
I would rather not fuss with the Airlines and take my guns with me on the plane. A co-worked mentioned that I should try to mail the guns to my brother?
Anyone ever done this? or does it have to be sent to an a FFA / FFL ???
thanks for any help in this matter

Clean them well, pack them well, and send em via UPS or the mail. Just don't mark anything on the package indicating it's a gun. You have to fill out a short form. Quick, easy, and not very expensive.
thought you had to declare guns when being shipped. it wouldn't be to hard to figure out whats in that sized/wt box plus insurance. I'd hate to have it stolen or confiscated or otherwise held up/delayed cuz you didn't go by the rules. might just be easier to bring them with you on the plane, but now that you pay for luggage who knows. I have a hard plastic 2-gun case you can borrow and it will hold 2- scoped rifles. but you will need a couple of airline approved locks. I can remember flying into Canada back in the day with a machete duct taped to my carry on bag.
You don't want to take them on a Grayhond either.
May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U.S. Postal Service?
A nonlicensee may not transfer a firearm to a non-licensed resident of another State. A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. The Postal Service recommends that long guns be sent by registered mail and that no marking of any kind which would indicate the nature of the contents be placed on the outside of any parcel containing firearms. Handguns are not mailable. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun.
