Well thanks to this thread, I spent the afternoon installing my old CB in my truck. 4 beers, 100 zip ties, 20' of wire, and its in. Now I got a ground problem I can't figure out. I'm gonna start over tomorrow with a fresh head and try to figure it out. I think I know the problem but I was getting frustrated so I quit before I threw a wrench through my window :hammer

if the radio its self is havin a ground problem, just ground it to the battery

I wired it straight to the battery, like I always have. It is a problem with the antenna/mount. Ill figure it out tomorrow, I was tired and cranky and my kid was wanting to get fed so I quit for the day

yea the antenna is always the hardest part to get right, pisses me off everytime lol

You'd be better off mounting the ground to the frame on the opposite end as the antenna. It extends the antenna range using the whole vehicle. It has something to do with the elliptical nature of radio transmissions.
