it also sat on my dash in the sun for 3 years and i think that had something to do with it. im gonna be re-doing my antenna setup soon anyways and am gonna re-do all the wiring and the ground and everything else, re mount it, the whole nine yards
yeah the FL sun is very damaging on radios. On my ham radios in the car, the sun and heat completely broke down the rubber cord on the mic, and now wires are fraying and breaking all the time. I have to break down and buy a new microphone sometime in the future.
good antennas, good connections and proper grounding are the first things to make sure a long life of your radio is had.
i got mine mounted now down on the floor and it stays outta the sun now. made a custom mount and its bolted at the base of the stick-shift. ill take a pic in a few when i run out to the store :toast
Yeah mine is mounted low and out of the sun, but still the heat build up inside of the car is just as bad 🙂
the new galaxies push 30 watts. so if i bought it from a store its their problem. anyway.. back to the antenna thing.
