I have the axis in 30-06 and like it. The only complaint I had was the trigger was really heavy out of the box. Went to the hardware store and picked up some lighter springs and fixed it for under $1.
That dont sound safe, but i guess its possible. My rem 700 sps 30.06 had like a 7.5 lb pull on it. I was shooting horrible groups cause of the flinch factor. Got the trigger worked to like 2.3 lbs and i shoot 100 percent better groups.

It's just changing out the existing spring with a lighter one. I shock tested it thoroughly before actually firing it.
Timney makes a drop-in trigger replacement for just about every make and model of gun out there. They are top of the line and the safest way to go

now I am not a gunsmith and have never claimed to be so forgive any inaccuracy in terms or descriptions. a spring change would lighten trigger pull wt if done correctly but would not do anything towards making a smoother FEEL of the pull. the spring is just 1 part of the smithing process for a good trigger job. the other would be hand filing/stoneing of metal to metal parts and small adjustments and tweaks to other parts to complete the whole pkg, and this is where experience and know how is important. or you could choose to have an entirely new aftermarket trigger like timney put in like il2h suggested. diff rifle actions are easier to "work" than others and some are almost impossible and not worth spending $ trying to improve. like the h&r or nea single shots. and unfortunately timney does not make 1 for the h&r I have or I would have done it, it's my only beef about the gun.
