Gonna build a box stand. I am tired of looking at commercially built ones and laughing at the prices they are selling for. So I am going build one. I am thinking 4'x6'. That will be plenty of room for two people.
Questions? How high should the inside be? Not the height off the ground, but the height of the interior of the box. I am going to make it 6' off the ground. That's all the height I need for the location I am putting it

Second question..in an attempt to cut costs in building it, is there a material to use for the sides that would be cheaper than sheets of plywood?

if you are gonna bow hunt - long bow compound ? take consideration do you stand when you shoot or can you sit ? consider the clearances you need -- if just sitting then shorter is better - also consider the hieght of a scent chimney - when I used to make em I used the plastic like for remodeling a bath room not cheap but lasts forever

I use a ground blind on top of a 5'X5' Platform, you can move it or what ever you want. Mine is four feet off the ground. Been good for three years.

This is an idea I am thinking about using. I have a one man style blind, I do not think I would even need a 5x5 platform but I am going to go up higher in the air.

Dave I have been kicking around that idea also, and haven't ruled it out. They actually sell a 6' platform made out of steel, with a ladder and trap door on the bottom. It's specifically made to put a ground blind on top
The only issue is, my ground blinds are getting a few years on them now and are starting to get some pin holes in them. Eventually I will need to replace them. I would rather put that money into a box stand.

As for the bow question, I shoot a crossbow down at this spot. But I am going to put a lock on stand in an oak tree about 10 yards away if I want to compound hunt it
