Keep your rule books handy in case the officer stops you then...wouldn't be the first time there was a conflict over interpretations of the rulebook. I was nearly cited two years ago for carrying a .50cal muzzleloader during the small game season in Green Swamp West. It took quite a bit of explaining to the little feller that HOGs were legal and an inline ML is exempt as a centerfire rifle even though ut clearly strikes center in a primer........

From the state site!

Question
Do I have to wear orange while hunting on private land?

Answer
Although the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission recommends all hunters wear hunter orange while hunting, according to Florida Statute 379.3003, it is only required for hunters pursuing deer on public lands and WMAs (except during archery-only season). You can find the Florida Statutes online at http://www.flsenate.gov/statutes . For additional information, please visit the Hunting Handbook at the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Hunting Web site at http://myfwc.com/RECREATION/Hunt_index.aspx .

"If still in doubt, don't take my word for it, contact FWC Law Enforcement Officer Linda Lewis at linda.lewis@myfwc.com and ask her. Or call the FWC office in Lakeland at 386-758-0525 and ask the folks that will be writing the citations."

I think Linda needs to go back to FWC school and stop mis-informing the Sportsmen of the state. Be sure to appeal any rulings she makes as it has been proven she is less than educated in the statutes she is supposed to be enforcing. In fact I may write her quoting her agencies reading of the rules.

I did not want to get into any unpleasant discussions but I thought I would do some reading and spent several hours going through the state site.Very good reading!
