north or northwest

I agree. A general N, NW, or NE is a calming wind that is usually after a front and is usually with nice weather. I have found an E wind I see the least movement.
Also on a S or Sw wind before a front approaches I will see a lot of movement

i've spent years trying to figure deer out ,moon phases, rut phases, harvest times when cetain foods (acorns/hickory nuts ) are droping, uphill in the am, downhill in the pm, stillhunt in wind and rain sit when its still, etc etc etc. each time I think I got em all figured out they make me look like a fool. these generalizations may be true sometimes ,but deer live outdoors 24/7-365 and do what they want when they want sometimes with no rhyme or reason. don't make yourself too crazy over it. you might have better luck trying to figure woman out. I think youre better off using that energy trying to learn the contour of the land, food and water sources travel routes, bedding areas, rub and scrape lines and choosing several good ambush locations for each wind direction and time of day, hone your shooting skills and pay attention when on stand, god knows how many deer slip by when youre daydreaming/sleeping eating or reading, but most of all be lucky. well thats my 2 cents worth. now I get to try and figure all this crap out for a new species hogs. i'm hot for piggy now.

I am looking into a lease near Panama city called the guy and things look good but leery on price.Year to year and is due Feb 2010 so I would pay for 2009 and get 4 months use and then need to pay for another seasons use.I would like to hold off and get a larger section lease which there are some that have up to 240 acres. The smaller section lease is between 120 and 150 acres plus use of campground and gun range which I like.

Hey, lamehawk, where'd you find the smaller leases for cheaper? I know about the leases around Bear Creek (Panama City). They're on a 6-pt or better rule under Westervelt. Of course, you have to deal with road hunters and locals jumping in hunting during the week. And the skeeters don't fly in swarms, they fly in entire human attack squadrons. My wife's pop and I hunt a lot and have been looking for something we can lease outright up in the Bonifay/Chipley area, but the only one we found that was remotely within price range was almost completely under water. And most of the ones in Bear Creek are over 400 acres. Prices aren't bad, but it's mostly all planted pines.

I wish I still had the ads for the deer leases but they are either taken up or just expired.I found 3 around Bay county area and of course you know of the Bear creek one.Yes it can get busy but I looked over it back in April and it did look very good with tons of hogs some turkey and deer. The other cheaper one was north of Bay county for 600 per year but that one did not last long and I never went to look at it at all.The 3rd one I just read ad in bait shop in downtown panam city shop never went there and its price I think was 700 per year.
