if youre able to walk up on them so close why lug a shotgun around at all? at that distance a 22mag behind the ear will do fine and save alot more meat.

Seriously your speaking from no experience what to ever buddy.. Sorry. Yea its possible.. Want to see what you do with yoru 22 mag when a big stinky is in front of you.
How about a bow or a .44 mag ground hunting them sweet time makes you know you are alive.
Carlos, didn't mean to dis you, but you made it sound like walking up to within 10 yd's of a hog is an everyday simple thing. call me a wuss if you want but I've got no desire to get that close, especialy if it's a big nasty, I'd just as soon pop it at 20-30 yds. and in my limited exp ( deer hunting since before you were born) have seen first hand that you can get close enough to step on one, so I get it stuff can happen, and I do use a 22 mag primarily from a stand but have a heavy backup on my hip for walking in and out alone in the dark.
As many hogs as I have piled up in my years, I have 2 currently on film now that I will neither shoot with a 22 mag, or buck shot. They are both scary big
