Carlos, didn't mean to dis you, but you made it sound like walking up to within 10 yd's of a hog is an everyday simple thing. call me a wuss if you want but I've got no desire to get that close, especialy if it's a big nasty, I'd just as soon pop it at 20-30 yds. and in my limited exp ( deer hunting since before you were born) have seen first hand that you can get close enough to step on one, so I get it stuff can happen, and I do use a 22 mag primarily from a stand but have a heavy backup on my hip for walking in and out alone in the dark.
everyone i have killed has been with in 10-15 yards.. Its very easy to walk up on them. Ask johnl and kemster.. we do it ALL THE TIME.. thats the only way i have ever killed any.. and with shotgun.
My first little one was rifle cause i was bored. One was with a bow at like 10 yards.. and the rest of them were all within 10-15 yards with a shotgun.
