Well my first hunting experience is rabbit hunting when I was in Korea. We couldn't and still can't own any firearms unless you apply for special license and from what I heard, its very expensive and difficult to get it.
So we used traps and you know caveman style hunting for rabbits lol
Then I moved to the United States and when I was in NJ, started picking up some knowledges. I didn't get to hunt anything when I was there but I met a lot of hunters who came to the farm where I used to work taught me lots of stuff. So I started building my interest on hunting and now, I love it loll
Ever since I can remember I always loved nature, fishing was my first love of the outdoors, when my grandparents came down for the winters from Michigan they stayed in a mobile home park that had a big lake so I fished all the time for bluegill I started around the age of prob 9 or 10, got in too bass fishing when I was 16 fished almost everyday after school and spent whole summers on a small lake only a few people knew about, good memories. Then I got into hiking alot and would take my camera with all the time, but I wanted something more adventurous and I had always been interested in hunting so I decided to take the hunter safety class, read books, bought equipment and learned most on my own at age 19. My dad grew up hunting and so did his dad but my dad went to the navy when he was 19 and did his own things and never got back into to so I never learned from him. Didnt hunt much last year, seems if you dont find the right girl in a relationship going hunting can cause conflicts, glad im single this year..
Well I don't have an interesting story to go along with mine. I learned from my dad and uncles. Hunting was in our blood, I remember countless afternoons 'hunting' birds and squirrels with bb guns behind our house. The funniest time of the year was when the robins migrated and we would setup on several dogwood trees and wait on them...
HANG OUT WITH OTHER HUNTERS. I AM GOING SCOUNTING AT GREEN SWAMP THIS WEEKEND.
I grew up in North Florida. My first hunting experience was with my uncles. We used to go coon hunting around midnight. Nothing like running through the swamp chasing dogs in pitch black darkness. It really gets in your blood :>) The first time I went deer hunting was with a friend of my dads at about 13 or so. I used my 6.5mm Jap rifle. The deer stand I sat in was like a big 'ol tree house fortunately so the rifles length wasn't an issue.
My dad was an avid fisherman. He never really liked to hunt. I think his war experience kind of ruined that sort of thing for him. I really didn't realize that until I got a lot older.
I tried to hunt in my Coast Guard career but it was infrequently at best. I really picked it back up after I retired in 2002 and had a little bit of time in one location.
Since I started again it's only been 1 trip per year but it has always been productive. :>) Haven't shot a pig yet but I'm hoping to get out more this year as we have another spot to hunt in Live Oak that's a lot closer than Laurel Hill. Went up there last Saturday and scouted a bit. There were deer tracks everywhere. We spied out a couple of good spots for stands and tossed some corn out to keep them interested. Some of the game trails looked like highways! Hopefully I'll get a few pictures next time.
