Nope. Honestly I'm not sure the CM even hit me with his fangs. I think it was his nose hitting the bottom of my boot. Now the rattler, I had on snake boots, and his fangs definitely hit but did not penetrate the outside of the boots at all. He hit and turned loose in less than a second. They did their job. That was the old leak o matic Red Head brand snake boots

I've been wearing some snake gaiters for a couple years until recently. I had a small 2-3' rattler hit the gaiters last year but he didn't penetrate them. I almost stepped on him and only missed him by a couple inches. I bought some snakeproof muck boots recently and love them. When I'm hunting in the glades I wear some sandal type things cause there are too many deep holes to fill your boots. My problem down south lately has been gators. I was walking down a trail that was about a 1 1/2' deep at 5:30 in the morning last week and almost stepped on the head of an 8'er. :eek As I slowly backed up he slowly came forward. :eek :eek Then I backed up as fast as I could and he stopped. I gave him a large circle and high tailed it to my stand. Thought I was breakfast for sure. I see at least a couple gators every morning in the trail this year so far. Do they make gatorproof boots?

I've been hit twice, both times with Rocky snake boots from Gander. While they do absolutely nothing to keep water out, they do stop em. First time was an 18" or so Pigmy. Wouldn't have been able to get thru leather boots and jeans, but I still felt safe. Next was a rattler in a clear cut, and I felt him good and solid. Thought I was dead for sure, but again, the boots held up very well. That one got blasted 3 times with the 12ga at near point blank range. Nuttin left but blood and guts and a hole in the ground.

They do tend to almost vaporize with them 3" 00 shells when they're that close.

chaps, you have to have protection above the knee, if you have ever been bit it is not a joking matter. I have snake boots and a very light contraption I wear above them for full protection....home made and cheap.
