Like the comments said after the pics, snake boots would have been about as much help as spandex. That thing would hit thigh high and break your hip.

It's not the ones you see that you have to worry about,it's the ones you don't see. I quit killin' rattlers a long time ago but I am rough on the cottonmouths. I'm more worried about all the gators in the woods.

Ive found alot of these in Richloam and Green Swamp, also have found clay pots near by. Whether it was just locals collecting sap or turpentine stills nearby I dont know, but probably locals in the places Ive seen em, never came across a still, but there still a cool find. http://www.bakerblockmuseum.org/heritage/turps/turps.htm Heres a little history...

im pretty sure thats for gettin turpentine. find the pots shattered all the time by trees
