Thanks for the input. I've set a few scopes but I haven't owned a 700 in a long time. I may just take the rifle to Gander and buy from them and have them set it and bore sight it for me. I'm afraid I'll buy he wrong stuff. This rifle's been in my cabinet for a week and I'm ready to blast something with it.NAcho,I gotta say you know your stuff,I need to bring you with me when I go to the store so I don't screw up.

HB, sure, you got the scope on it allready? what kind? can't afford to travel too far from spring hill. you got a range in mind?

Well I got my Leopold bases and mounts,nice sling and a limbsaver wussy pad at Gander but didn't get the scope yet. Almost got a Leopold 3x9x50 on the way home at Wal-mart but it was the display and had no covers,and I was a little leary of buying a display.I don't quitwe understand hot to mount the ring on the front base,looks like it should pop in and twist around but it don't.
