there were two kids at camp this weekend and they were so safety minded it made me feel bad for not being as strict as they were. i am wondering why these kids had the safeties on there guns off. that is the biggest thing anyone should be conscious of. take the safety off when you are about to squeeze the trigger.

the one kid who's grandpa woke him up. was using an older 30-30. no safety other than 1/2 cock. had cocked his rifle. last year it cost him a deer not having his rifle cocked. so he had it cocked butt down on the floor of the ladder , barrel up. when his grandad poked him it startled him and hit the trigger with his foot i guess.

to me it doesnt matter. safety stays on till the deer is in the cross hairs

should a, would a could a. after the fact we can pick this apart but the fact still remains that this could have been avoided and just want everyone to keep their younguns safe.

Sad thing is everyone of these incidents could have been EASILY avoided.
