them 2 man stands are a hassle. have 5 of them on my lease. very awkward. hate moving them. although, just picked up 2 family tradition 2 man stands. very easy to put up.

welcome to the sight. i guess, if you feel comfortable leaving a couple hundred bucks worth of ladder stand in the woods. go for it. i have a hard time leaving my climber out on my own lease. and i'm the only one on it.

I also have a climber and its really easy just to carry it the day of hunting. The ladder stand is a heavy booger. It aint something I wanna be trying to put up in the dark on hunting day. I'de have to get the truck within 50 feet of the tree to put that thing up. So it would make it alot harder to steal.

No, I am really talking about a white bucket. Last week john1, cr0ck, and myself went hog huntting and I used a white bucket as a chair.

Leave it up with a good lock on it and remove it at the end of the season. EZPZ.

I think the key word here is "public". when you put up a stand and leave it, you are kinda claiming that area. now I may have scouted and wanted that same spot and have just as much right to hunt it as you. now if all the good spots have empty stands on them that sucks. if I find a hunter already in an area I want to hunt I do the right thing and go elsewhhere. and yes I have left stands up for the season ( on private land only). I don't think you should leave stands on public land on days you won't be using them. If I go to the trouble of walking to a sight in the dark and find a empty stand already in a site I planned on hunting for some time, I feel I have the right to hunt that area alone, and someone comes along at 7-8am spooking everything around, ruining my hunt and thinks I'm going to leave so he can get in his stand and have the area to himself, then we have a problem.

bottom line.. leave it there and people are gonna use it. or it could get stolen.. but its a good thing to be able to walk to your stand on public land tho.
