I've lived in Florida my whole life and the same goes with my dad. I hunt on public land where my father hunted when he was a kid and my grandfather hunted also. The area has changed drastically as has a lot of Florida. I hunt on a piece of land where the only way to get to it is by boat. It has an oak hammock, palmetto fields, cypress swamps, grass marshes and is separated from a piece of leased hunting property and another part which is owned by water management that was only just recently opened to hunting. The fence that separates the two sections of land has two cattle gates that are always open. Several areas that were previously marked for no hunting have been opened up to hunting now. Three of the areas have special rules to them which state that no deer may be shot and you may not hunt with a centerfire rifle. The other much larger plot of land where you can hunt for deer and use a rifle is mostly inaccessible other than using an air boat. Personally we do not own one but every weekend we have been able to slip out there and camp and hunt there have always been between 8-15 different airboats. Several of them lack respect for the area in which they hunt so they litter and destroy other peoples stuff.
I've had varied luck with the game there. I have seen several turkey, no hogs yet and a few does and one too small buck. There have been times when I've fallen asleep from lack of anything going on. Any tips anyone can give me are greatly appreciated and if anyone has any information on easy access hunting clubs that would be a great help to. Personally with the way the economy is I don't have the money to invest into a leased hunting club but whatever you can tell me would be a huge help. Thank you for your time and for any help you can give. :cheers
