shot many a running deer with a pack of hounds stroking him. stick it on his nose and pull the trigger. well this works with the shotgun. just forget he has horns or you will shoot to high :oops , experience talking here. cant give any advice with a rifle on a running one, never tried it.

with buckshot maybe to 30 yds or so, not with a rifle or ml, unless you have practiced this, or it is a follow up shot on a wounded animal, too much chance of crippling or gutshooting it. be patient and wait for a better shot, or call or whistle they will often stop to look

leading a running buck or hog with a rifle, granted not the best thing to do, but, if you put the cross hairs on the end of their nose. that is where you want to aim. the biggest thing is the follow through. don't stop leading with the rifle when you pull ther trigger. just imagine skeet shooting.
