For those of you who hunt on WMA/public land how do you get your animal out to your vehicle?
You guys seems to be packing in your tree stands, guns, water, etc. on your back for long distance.
If you shoot a 200 pound hog in the woods out there how do you get it all back to your vehicle?
A 200 lb. pig, plus all your equipment on your back?
When I hunt public land, I mostly hunt Green Swamp and far from most people. My hunting area is a mile and a half from the main road/parking. I usually hunt weekends (Friday-Sunday). What I do is I use my game cart to get stand and stuff to my area. Once there, I lock the stand and lock the game cart to a tree so I don’t have to carry back at the end of each day. Don’t really care if it gets stolen. It will piss me, but what can you do. Is the risk you take.
I used to leave stands at the swamp the whole season with no issues, but again, far enough that only true hunters will go that way.
I carry ropes & bungees to make a travois and drag it out...
That game cart is a good idea... I never knew such thing existed.
Is there a lot of problem with theft out there?
I've been toying with an idea of hunting out at public WMA land this year to see what that's all about but I have a lot of logistics to work out.
Game cart. Best $60 I ever invested in. Wont hunt without it
