I have always wanted to put a food plot on my property in Citrus county. There have always been deer on my property so I dont need to attract them I just want to boost the quality of deer the property holds. The area I want to plant in is half sand and half decade leaves (under the trees). The area is at least 300 yards from my house making it hard to prep and water. Does anyone have experience with food plots that grow well in the florida weather without maintenance. I would not be against cutting a path for a local farmer to get a tractor to the area for disk prep, but I am rearly at the property during the off season, so maintaining it and watering is not an option.

Thanks,

Sean :help

Yeah...disking will help, but might be a little hot and dry to plant right now.....dont know about your area...usually put my plots in a little earlier in year for summer plots, or a little later (sept, oct) for fall plots....disking, liming, fert. are essentail where I hunt....just remember that the path for the tractor might also invite some other unwanted two legged visitors....possible....also, cutting and disking a path to the plot will also help the wildlife......I usually plant rackmaster deluxe in the spring, summer.....and a winter cereal blend (wheat, oat, rye) and maybe peas in the winter....bug again...thats Georgia....and none of it turns out too good without rain....

Good Luck.
