go get yourself a ruger m77 .270 will knock down anything in florida. my father has killed countless hogs over 200 lbs all shoulder shost and every single one has been found within 80yds and every deer that has been shot with that rifle has never gone more than 40yds. now that being said .243 is a good bullet but lacks a little power for hogs, but for deer it should be fine. 7mm is a great rifle is a great caliber but i just think its a little to much and im not fond of the recoil. as for the 30-06 me and my old man wont shoot them, we tried and tried again but we just cant touch shots on paper with it.

I got rid of my 7mm because everything I shot with it ran like hell. Never seen anything like it. And again a 243 is plenty for hogs

I bet a lot of the arguments against .243 stem from poor bullet selection.
