I'd lend you a rifle to hunt with for the season before I advised you to buy a 770 or 710.

Don't do it, the bolt action is terrible and the 1st thing to break will be the cheap spring on the removable clip. Ask me how I know... :oops I was lucky and got $250 for it when I sold it though.
Sorry the link I posted was bad. Review #3 and #4 were probably written by the folks at Bass Pro as it doesn't list the Disadvantages as the first two customer reviews do
Here they are... Customer Reviews
#1 Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: Performance, Quality, Durability, junk "I purchased this gun and the bolt broke on a bear hunt. Gun was 3 years old. Remington said warranty only for 2 years and "sorry." Took gun to shop that sold it to me- they said should have bought a Ruger because Remington won't stand behind their product. Had gun sent to private gunsmith-told it was a manufacture defect, they made Remington pay for the repair, except for my shipping cost. I will never forget their customer service and I just purchased a Browning A-Bolt instead of a new Remington. Remington-to me-won't help a customer at all."
#2 Advantages: Durability, Value for money, Quality
Disadvantages: Difficult to use, chattery "You get what you pay for. Out of the box scope was about 1foot down, but centered. Grouping after sight-in excellent. The action on the bolt and feed, leaves much to be desired. I am happy with the gun, for the price, but wish I had spent the money on a 700.
#3 Advantages: Ease of use, Durability, Performs well, Value for money, Quality, hits good, easy to site in, light, perfect"my friends recently purchased this for me for doing work over the summer.to say the least i was extremely happy.it has a green stock not the camo or black stocks also offered.i used to hunt with a remington 710 .243 it was heavy but i dropped 3 deer with it.the 770 which i now have is much lighter and has a smoother bolt.it is a great gun when i got it it was hitting 6 inches to the left but i got it in the bulls eye in 4 more shots.it is a great gun for anyone it is priced perfectly and will get the job done.i use super x ammo they work great with the gun.also the kick is not bad at all"
#4 Advantages: Ease of use, Durability, Performs well, Value for money, Quality"I have had this gun for a few seasons now and absolutely love it. I have always used a .270 and this is my first 30-06. It has helped me take down several deer ranging from 20 yds to 150 yds away. The scope is also very good quality. I can say this from experience. I had my pull up rope break causing my gun to fall about 20ft to the ground, hitting the scope on the side. When I tested it after this, the scope was still hitting a tight group around the bullseye at 50 yds. A few weeks later it took down a deer at 150 yds. If your thinking about this gun then I would recommend buying it."

There are quite a few guys on here with 40+ years of gun knowledge. I would encourage you to heed their advice. If you are set on getting a package gun, go get a savage with the accu trigger. they are not much more expensive, and you can put better glass on it in a few years when you get older, and still have a good rifle.
If you buy the 770 and want to sell it later, you will not get more that 100-150 for it tops
I had one in .243 & trust me you will regret it. For the same money you can go to Dick's and get a Savage in the same calibers and be happy happy happy. don't do it you've been warned.
