I had some beagle walker cross when we had a large hunting party and over the years the group either passed or are not hunting anymore so i got rid of them and went back to beagles so the wife and I can hunt them by ourselves. I was brought up hunting with dogs and to me their is nothing better than on a cool foggy morning than listen to dogs trail. Now I have harvested better deer sitting in a stand. But dog hunting was bred into me.

10-4 on that, not much of my crew left. That's why I pretty much hog hunt, still run a few deer now and then. Ain't nothing better than a dog striking a hot track on a cold, clear morning.

Deer hunting with dogs is definitely a dying sport compared to other types of dog hunting (coon and hog). I've been declining the invites from some local boys to hog hunt with them because I know if I went, I would love it and then I would have to get some hog dogs too...My wife would kill me

I'll be running those deer until the FWC outlaws it though. I don't plan on slowing down or giving up anytime soon!

Don't ever quit,I will support deer dogging as long as I live,as well as other hunting. It's all good,I have killed a lot more deer with a bow than I have ever killed with a dog. People don't understand the ar and love in a good racxe. Wether it be fox, deer, coon, hog or beagles on rabbits. It's all about the dog and chase, not the kill.

Honestly, I have too. I calculated in the last 5 years I've killed 6 times as many bucks during bow and muzzleloader than while running dogs. It's (as you are well aware) a very inefficient way to hunt, but one I love- it's all above the love of hearing a good race. Once general gun season comes in, I'm itching to cut lose a pack of hounds.

I love still hunting but after turkey day most bucks are nocturnal.ALso toting two 7yr old twins every weekend makes sitting a little tough. These boys are a permanent fixture on my dog box.
