I run hounds for deer-walkers and beagle/walker crosses. I've got 6 running dogs now, two 3 and a half month old pups, and a litter on the way.
I have 9 head of beagles that I deer hunt with. 2 Blueticks that I coon hunt with. 1 Yellow Cur I hog hunt with.
My buddy crossed an old cold nosed walker with a hard hunting beagle last summer and man let me tell you,they are some of the hardest driving puppys I've ever seen. At 6 months they were running hogs and deer. What a trip to listen to those 5 on something.Next year they should really be on top.
I miss my old beagles....
I had some beagle walker cross when we had a large hunting party and over the years the group either passed or are not hunting anymore so i got rid of them and went back to beagles so the wife and I can hunt them by ourselves. I was brought up hunting with dogs and to me their is nothing better than on a cool foggy morning than listen to dogs trail. Now I have harvested better deer sitting in a stand. But dog hunting was bred into me.
