From 12 ft up your yardage will be off around 1/2 a yard off, at 20 ft up about 1 yard off, 30 ft up about 2 yards off.

a 2 + b 2 = c 2
a squared(height up tree) + b Squared(distance from tree) = c squared(adjusted distance) take square root of this number
just make sure you are using feet or yards wont work with both
Nerdy but it works!

pythagorum theory. if you know how far the target actually is from the tree then that works out. i always like to step off markers or trees to guage yardage. i just hope someday something will step out in front of me so i can finally make the shot.

if you know the heighth you are at. measure the distance from the base of the tree on the ground and do the geometry,
