I've had Cape buffalo. We ate some heart, tongue and tenderloin from a cow and steaks from an unborn calf. It was excellent, as good as any beef. We lived in South Africa when I was young, and one of the guys who worked for my dad was a licensed guide and big game hunter. They called him up when a several buffs got loose from Kruger National Park and were running through town. He had to put down two of the buffs when they got injured running into traffic, a young bull and the pregnant cow. He was given the cow as "payment". He held a big "braaivleis", or what we'd call a cookout or bar-b-que, about 2 weeks later with about 50 people. One of my fondest memories of the 18 months we lived over there!
