i met a guy today at a gunshop who told me there is a place to hunt buffalo in sarasota. he told me it costs 500 bones to take one. they are not bison, they are a mixed cape buffalo breed. ill post more after i check in to it. he did tell me they have the temper of a cape, they will charge you if you are not careful. he also said you can archery hunt them or gun hunt. im not much for paid hunts, only cause im a poor SOB, but i think i could scrounge that to fill a freezer or 3. i will definately post more on this as soon as i learn more, but i think that taking a buffalo with a bow would be awesome. the man also told me the meat was very good and he plans on doing it again.
sarasota? close to me. i'd be up for archry hunting one of those big guys. keep us posted.
yeah, im excited to go check it out. he told me i could call the guy and he would show me the property and all. he also said that they have a hog lease. he has approx 3000 acres and a lot of hogs. the guy told me he pays 1500 a year and can hunt as much as he wants and kill as many hogs as he wants. he said when you go out there you can see red stag, elk, deer, many different exotics and stuff. i wouldnt pay that much to shoot hogs, but 500 for a buffalo, most definately. it sure motivates me to start slingin sticks to get ready. he said he shot his at 28 yards and it ran 80 yards before falling. i imagine the outer edges of his property are high fenced to keep the elk and stuff in, but i think with 3000 acres there is still plenty of chase involved. he said you can spot and stalk or drive up to them and shoot. and they will deliver your kill to the butcher in arcadia, or they will load it in your truck so you can take it where you want
I think he is out Clark Rd.. Or there used to be someone out there that had buffalo. Keep us in the loop.
its off of 72, near 70, i e-mailed him this evening, so hopefully he will get back to me and tell me if what that guy said was real or BS.
