I did the small tourn. circuit for quite a few years and what he says is true. If you're thinking of fishing a tourn. I would fish the lake for 2-3 days before and make good use of loran fish finder and pencil and paper and make notes of water clarity, weather, amount of sunshine, and time of year, and water temp, as a lot of this stuff you will begin to notice is repetative and will make you a better bass angler. It will definatly help you locate bass easier. They say 90% of the bass live in 10% of the water, you will catch bass if you learn to recognize these waters. Map the bottoms and talk to the local fishing shops they're usually pretty helpful.
My boyfriend and his uncle ( Pearson is their last name ) fish the local tourni's , Tampa Pro Bass and Cracker Boys are a couple of them, check them out and see if they allow participation without having to be a member .
