I think these spec opp places are a bit overrated. Not that they don't hold some monster deer....but to spend $800 to go on 2 hunts is not worth it. There are some WMA's that have as good or better deer. If I get drawn for a particular one, I feel confident I will put one on the wall this year, based on what I saw in archery last year...
I personally feel GSW has gone down hill
I don't think you get points when unsuccessful for the sambar hunt
They started a point system out there this year. My group didn't get drawn either so now I can go ahead and put in for my regular quotas.

The form I have says this is the first year and you will receive one preference point for each yr unsuccessful. So we wait. Lol
Question. I put in for special op hunt(Fort Drum) for general gun deer and hog. My results are Waiting:place in line 70. Does anyone know my chances of actually hunting there this 2013/2014 season are?Ever been on this list? 70 seems like alot to me for a place that lets so few hunt there.
