Crazy to me... I'd rather people have no clue where I am hunting, than to just follow the yellow brick road...

i pull old ribbon down and all those rickety wooden ladder stands but i just lay them down at the base of the tree so no one climbs it and gets hurt i use tacks spread out good then where i cut off to get to my stand i start a ribbon trail that goes about 300 yards or so to nowhere so if someone finds my trail they pass up my stand and always pull all tacks (that i see) and all my old ribbon i also have a piece hanging on my ladder stand with my name and ph. number on it i use my gps too but the other day when it was so foggy i was sitting in my climber where i set my gps from the night before same tree and gps said i was 81 feet from my waypoint

I will say again why do those ppl need a ribbon trail at all a good batch of bright eyes works so well if you are not skilled in the woods. The mess gets so bad!

I guess I did not make myself clear in my last post. I will not touch anyone elses property no matter how rickeity it is. And I certainly wouldnt call the FWC during the hunting season about a rickety stand.

I was just saying that OFF season, if we see a stand in the woods while we are scouting then we should inform FWC about the stand, as hunters are required to remove all hunting equipment at the end of the season (on WMA's), and cannot bring hunting equipment into an area usually until the day before the season opens.

As for ribbons, again I would not remove them during the hunting season, but would consider removing Old ones OFF season like when scouting for the next upcoming season. And the other members are right, if you have a GPS then ribbons are not even needed anymore. granted not everyone can afford a GPS, so they may use ribbions to help them relocate a place they scouted. But after the season or when you are done hunting that area, you should remove them. But people are lazy and well dont want to remove them because it would take time, or to leave their spot marked for the next years season, if they ever come back....

Personally I dont use ribbons unless I made a kill and then it is to mark bloodtrails and where the shot was made. I clean them up after I am done with them.
