I was lucky to get invited as a guest on a sorta hard-to-get quota hunt this weekend.
Spent over 20 hours in my climber the last 2 days and never saw a deer :censored

Last weekend they were wide open moving and chasing. They sorta shut down earlier in the week and movement was minimal. My buddy saw about 5 deer and one shooter that got by him before he could get on him
The place was slap beat down with deer sign. Rubs, scrapes and game trails everywhere you look
Where I sat for a day and a half

One of many. Lots of them were bigger than this

And yesterday afternoons sit. We moved to another area. We actually got some cloud cover and the barometer dropped. Pigs were moving good but would not come out of the thickets. we heard them all afternoon

And the evening sunset looking thru the little cypress head

Here was an interesting find. with this drought that Florida is in, we tried to go find water. There is supposedly a couple lakes, but you could play beach volleyball in the middle of them. We found this little water hole. This may be the only water for miles and miles. It is no bigger than the hood of your truck, and there was about a 8-9 foot gator in it. No tellin how many critters he has killed coming up there to get a drink

Can't wait for next season. I am going to put all my eggs in one basket and apply for this place since I will have preference points

I had that hunt in 2010 with similar results. My son seen what he called deerzilla, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.
Worth the wait to get a preference? ...oh heck yes!
