hog is open year round on private property. all state managed lands have different dates that you need to read about at fwc.com. myakka has plenty of hogs and i think it is a great spot. i will make at least one hunt down there this small game season.
Guess I gotta wait for general gun or centerfire then....font have enough time to buy archery gear and practice.
Unless I just supervise.
I thought hog was open year round and that was a time just for archers to get in on it by themselves.
Hogs legal year round on PRIVATE land only
So unless there is aI specific hunting season listed....you can only go there to scout and such?

Yeah, pretty much. If your brave and take chances, you might go put some cameras in there for a couple of weeks in likely spots, but at least get down there and do some scouting. I need to do that as well, and yeah Tim, I'll holler at you when it's time.
Don't think they allow any centerfire down there, but a shotgun with slugs is about all you'll need.
I'm looking into doing a hog hunt up near Zephyrhills on the Withlacoochee River. Guy up there has a good piece of land that has hogs coming through all the time. They have some feeders and stands set, or you can do a stalk, even a night stalk. Cost is $100/person to hunt, don't matter how many you kill. I've just been waiting on a little cash to free itself up. It's only an hour and a half or so from Sarasota.
