That would be your best bet. You can reach the better spots from Lake Monroe. You may want to consider putting in at the 17-92 ramp. It might be a little closer to where you're goin.
I am liking the boat idea even more now. I could put in at the marina at the county rd 415 bridge but I am not familiar with the launch. Anyone have any experineces there?
i had bought a kayak in brown sand color JUST for the reason of being able to get in the skinny water and go to the little islands but had to sell it a week after i bought it brand new due to personal issues.
Remember those little islands are gonna have about 200 yards of and sinkable and hard to walk in and dangerous mudd before you get to dry land. At least i can say that for some places.. Not all.

Smaller boat (jon boat would be best) with green slime in the trailer tires, and you'll be fine. And the same as with all public ramps, don't leave anything of value in your truck, lock the trailer on the hitch, lock the hitch to the truck, and use at least one locking lug nut on each trailer wheel.
