i saw that yesterday but didnt post it. This guy is charging (he didnt say it but hes not gonna drive that far for free) to take you on PUBLIC land and act as a guide. LOL.. he says he already has stands set up.. whos other peoples? lol.. its a smart idea and good market but dam give me a break. i bet hes gonna make tons of money on it.
There are tons of guides that specialize in guiding on public lands.Not to take anything from the guy who has his own place,but think about it.The guys with the ranches have limited presure, the feed the animals, they can observe them all year and know exactly where they go from day to day.They can put up dozens of stands. they go out the day before a client comes out , find the game and know exwctly where to sit the client.
The guy on public land has to deal with limited access, hundreds of hunters running through the woods,spooky game that moves from area to area depending on food and preasure.we all know how hard it is to pattern deer on a WMA.I think the guy who can have consistant success on the state land tends to be a better hunter.I went out with a guy in the catskills before i bought my farm and this guy knew his stuff. he knew every plant, tree, bird and even more important , he knew what the deer would be doing. I think we are going to see an increase in guys like this. A large number of the guides Up north and out west do it on public lands.
