What’s going on guys? I'm new to site, but from the looks of it we're all pretty new. Just got a question for you all. Have any of you guys been lucky enough to get drawn for the special opportunity deer hunt at Green Swamp West. If so do you have any advice or pointers?
Green swamp West is one of the prettiest places you will ever see in the state of Fl. A lot of the property was ranch at one time, so there are a lot of big pasture areas. There is a big swamp area and up towards 471 you get into more of a scrub/black jack oak thicket.
I have been there twice, once on a hog hunt and once during small game. The amount of buck sign you will see will make you crap your pants. I saw a few deer that were jaw droppers for sure. I can't really give you a pointer on where to go, but just get out and walk and find a good travel area as opposed to hunting a food source. We did a lot of walking during the couple times I was there and it seemed that any edges where hardwoods met pasture there were game trails that a blind fella could follow. I would set up on one of those, especially on a rifle hunt where you can see down the pasture edge
About 90% of the buck rubs you see in there are on trees 8-10" or bigger 😯
Its hard to get a special permit.. When i hunt green swamp im going to go during the week after the 9 day quota period.
Cr0ck, he is talking about Green Swamp WEST, not the regular management area I think you are thinking of
