and i caught a guy in my sons ladder stand this past weekend..its one thing if they are in mine but really eerks me when i catch them in my little boys..i let them know it was mine an that i didnt appreciate them being in it..i carry my stands way to far for lazy hunters to use them...
It sounds like a 50/50 split between backing out and walking in. I would really like to get a ladder stand back into some of the places I discovered while stalking around. But if I do, I am assured half of the people set up on the route will get mad. Perhaps if I walked in while it was still dark that would alleviate some concerns.
walk in in the middle of the day an 99 o/o of the hunters are at camp...
Or walk in uber early while the other 'hunters' are having a tailgate talk and stay all day. I often leave my Viper Classic in the woods cable locked to the bottom of a tree, I currently have a ground blind staked about two miles of the nearest grade. Anybody that walks that far will likely leave your stuff alone. If not, find them and return the favor x2....
Here are my thoughts on walking by other stands to get to a spot. If I really want to hunt a spot, then I'll get out there plenty early. I don't want to see another hunter at a parking spot, nor do I want them to see where I'm going. As soon as they get down from their stand (and they don't see any game that sit) half of them will be on their way to see where you are hunting. Wake up extra early and walk in at pitch black dark, or get in way early for evening hunts. Just my thoughts on it.
