I got green swamp general gun. Ive been hunting there about 4 years and have managed a few hogs and a nice gobbler but have yet to even find good deer sign. I try to get off the beaten path but no dice. any advice for this season. I will also be out there during bow season and use that time to scout as well.any tips are appreciated.
The key to GS is to get away from the people. There was an old man that was on some Florida forums years back that killed like 12-15 bucks that made the Florida registry from there alone(not counting the other big bucks he killed in there).
The further you can get, the better. You can actually take a mountain bike and ride for several miles and still be in the WMA in places
u got to get out there and scout and go where u think noone else would dare to walk to or in find trails being use ,deer poop ,rubs get away from people .i hunt about a hr. or so away from the truck, and there might be 3 guys that hunt where i hunt. but ive also seen deer 15mins. away from the truck u just got to find a place where alot of people r not at .just went out there sat. to scout around seen bout 10 hogs lots of deer sign the creek is up quite a bit so didnt go all the way back to where i hunt but lots of sign without crossing the creek
Ive never gone there outside of hunting season. i assume the gates are closed and you either have to hike in or bike in. i hunt towards the end of powder grade thinking its a bit farther from the gate and walk in about 30 min. i dont see many hunters but dont see much game either . i guess i need to scout some other areas. i hope to get out there before bow season.
