The following special regulations take effect at 12:01 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2009, and will remain in effect until further notice:

Motorized vehicles, motorcycles and airboats are prohibited in the Holey Land and Rotenberger wildlife management areas (WMAs) and in part of the Everglades and Francis S. Taylor WMA in Water Conservation Area 3A north of Alligator Alley (Interstate 75). Vehicles are allowed on the L4, L5 and Miami Canal levees to access boat ramps for fishing in canals.

Campfires are prohibited in the Holey Land and Rotenberger WMAs and part of Everglades and Francis S. Taylor WMA in Water Conservation Area 3A north of Alligator Alley.

These areas consist of marsh habitats and are experiencing low water levels due to regional drought. The regulations are necessary to minimize the risk of wildfires that will harm wildlife and wildlife habitat.
