Mallory Swamp used to be owned by Buckeye Cellulose Co way back when I was a kid. When Lafayette County hunt club started (it was 270,000 acres, the largest hunt club in the SE US) it was part of it. Several years back Suwannee River WMD tok some property and made WMA's out of it. Mallory swamp is one of them.

I hunted Buckeye and Lafayette HC for most of my young life. Mallory Swamp is what all the locals used to call the "sog"

Basically it is big huge ti-ti thickets out in the middle of big flat areas(or it used to be). We used to go ride out there when I was a kid. I spent many hours riding on the dog box riding thru there. If we saw a deer it ws rifle barrel stretching across those big flats. If we saw a hog we put the catch dogs out and caught them in those thick azz titi thickets

Tharts the way it used to be.I havent been there in a long time, since Lafayette HC folded up and I got out of dog clubs
There was a massive muck fire back about 2004 I think. I heard it changed the way it looks completely. I can only imagine it is thicker.

I remember it as a very very thick place and hard to hunt. I know they allow dog hunting in there and I believe horses and ATV's

I have heard the hog population is very good but they hole up when pressure starts. Not sure about the deer

BTW, there is another WMA close to there that is better 😉
I think I told you in person which one 😉

And some of the terrain, I wouldn;t take the camera, to thick. We did see alot of hogs and deer.
