Where did you set up this last time...I mean, how far in did you go? Did you use a climbing stand?
I'm about an hours ride back, about 7 miles in. I'm using an API climber but where I need to move to there aren't big enough trees so I'm gonna bring a ladder stand to try to get a little closer to where they're coming out of. With as much water as there is it could take 3-4 hours to walk back there easily.
Forgot to mention that about 20 min. before dark my buddy texts me that a 4' moccasin was coiled up at the base of his tree. He poured some gatorade on it and it hisses and moves out a few feet. He sends me another text to come get him with the rhino when I'm ready cause he ain't climbing down till it's gone. I pull up and he tells me he does'nt know where it's at and come get him. "lol" I can honestly say that I have never seen 2 people try to load up faster than we did not knowing where it was at in the dark. "lol" "lol" The down side was it wasn't a python. I'd love to get a new belt and boots.
Maybe he should bring a pellet pistol in with him next time. He can get some target practice while on stand...if nothing else walks by. Too bad he didn't have to go to the bathroom. Or, maybe he did...in his pants.
i carry a side arm all the time. even on wmas.. all of them i hunt allow it.
