sunday morning my son and i headed out to a friends place in hardee and we knocked down a decent bird. we sat in a blind as to hide the antsy 6 year old from blowing our cover. the birds were quiet, and we only heard a couple birds at fly down time. we saw one bird at about 7:15 a couple hundred yards away. as that bird disappeard heading to a hay field, a coyote appeared and followed the same path as the turkey. a good 45 minutes or so went by before we had any other movement. then the gobbler showed up again and slowly made its way to us. while i was watching that bird another showed up and moved quickly our way. this bird was younger and on the move. finally we saw that a hen was leading the first bird our way. once they came in to range the gobbler was hesitant to commit to closing the distance because the other tom was in the area. lucky for me the young tom wanted nothing to do with the other and soon he came in to range. he passed behind a tree and i got the gun ready and let him have it when he came out on the other side. high fives and smiles were the next order of business. good times were had by all.
here are a few pics
