I wasn't the trigger man but it doesn't matter. A friend of mine met me at the gate and as soon as they opened we hooded it about a mile back to our predetermined listening spot. It was very quiet so we set out tryingto find one. We couldn't strike one but found an area with a lot sign so we decided to set up and blind call. We were setup about thirty yards apart. Him looking one way down a fire break and me the other way. We had been there about 30 minutes blind calling mainly clicks and purrs and scratching in the leaves. I tried a couple of series of gobbler helps with it being late in the year and up in the morning. I can't say for sure that's what worked but it wasn't 5 minutes and boom my buddy had his first longbeard. He said there was two of them and they were running down the trail right towards us. It wasn't your classic spring turkey hunt but it was effective. If they aren't gobbling find sign and hunt it. You can't kill em on the couch
